Jets™ wins innovation award with environmental technology
(Wednesday, September 29, 2010)
Jets™ received the “Innovator of the Year” award Tuesday evening at the regional Sunnmørskonferansen business conference in Geiranger, Norway.
Competing with several strong candidates from both culture and business, Jets™ was selected by the jury in the end. The jury based their choice partly on the Jets™ group’s commitment to developing environmentally friendly wastewater treatment technology, and emphasized the company's cooperation with Runde Environmental Centre. Consideration was also given to the jobs which Jets™ create in the local community, while being a global company.
Surprised, but honored
- We were in fact a little surprised to receive this award, since so many other great candidates were considered for it. So we are thrilled to actually win! We are honored that our work is recognized in this way, and hope that it can inspire others to work with environmentally friendly technology in the future, says CEO Jan Tore Leikanger of Jets™.
He spent Tuesday evening at the conference in Geiranger, anticipating the jury’s decision on who would win the prize - a sculpture made by artist Terje Fagermo.
The conference continued Wednesday morning, starting with a presentation of the Jets™ group. In his presentation, Leikanger talked about the global challenges caused by water shortage and how Jets™ contributes with products and solutions that dramatically reduce water consumption.
The purpose of the award, according to the awarders, is to “give recognition and draw attention to innovative businesses or individuals in the Nordvestlandet region which contribute positively to the commercial development of the region”. The other candidates were Stokke, Fiskerstrand Verft, Offshore Simulator Centre AS, The Margarets/Momentium, Global Enviro International AS, Stadt Towing Tank and Rekkedal Gjestegard.
The prize is awarded by a group consisting of regional banks Nordea, Sparebank1 SMN, Sparebanken Møre, regional newspaper Sunnmørsposten, and the Aalesund Chamber of Commerce.

The Jets™ group
Since the late 1980s, the Jets™ group has supplied the world's leading products in maritime sanitary technology. Today the group has more than half the world market for vacuum sanitary systems in this segment.
The technology has also been used very successfully onshore, and has vast potential for growth in land based markets where considerations like environment, water savings and water costs are growing ever more important.
