Jets™ awarded equipment contracts in tough market
(Wednesday, January 06, 2010)
Norwegian vacuum sanitation manufacturer Jets™ has been awarded the contract for delivery of a vacuum toilet system with 2.100 toilets to yet another cruise ship for the Carnival group. The delivery is for "Costa Fascinosa", a cruise vessel with passenger capacity of 3.700 to be built by Italy's Fincantieri group.
In addition to the 2.100 toilets, Jets™ will also supply 6 vacuum units with the company's own Vacuumarator™ pumps for the ship. The new "Costa Fascinosa" is the sister ship of "Costa Favolosa", which is already under construction at the same yard. The contract for the 114.500 dwt vessel was made with the Jets™ group's maritime sales company Jets Vacuum AS.
More Carnival contracts
Jets™ has recently also supplied the sanitary system for "Carnival Dream", which at 130.000 dwt is the largest ship in the Carnival group's fleet. This vessel has a crew and passenger capacity that totals 6.000 people, and is currently sailing the Caribbean with 2.500 Jets™ toilets. "Carnival Dream" also has a sister ship, the "Carnival Magic", that is now under construction in Italy. This sister ship will also be equipped with a Jets™ system.
Quality and low costs wins contracts
- We consider the fact that Jets™ is chosen in a market where very few ships are built for the time being, as a statement of trust from our customers. Low life cycle costs, high reliability and an international name for quality once again proves to be important factors for winning contracts. We are especially satisfied that a customer like Carnival chooses us again. The last contract for "Costa Fascinosa" alone represents a contract value of several million NOK, says marketing director Ole-Chr. Fotland of Jets Vacuum AS.

This technology has also been used very successfully onshore, and has vast potential for growth in land based markets where considerations like environment, water savings and water costs are growing ever more important.
